Prolight Diagnostics (“Prolight”) is pleased to announce the formation of its Clinical Advisory Board with the appointment of six distinguished, internationally recognized experts in the field of cardiology, emergency medicine and clinical pathology. The Clinical Advisory Board will be instrumental in the further product development and clinical studies of Prolight’s unique digital, single molecule counting, point-of-care (POC) system for the measurement of various biomarkers. Prolight´s launch product will be for the measurement of the biomarker troponin, to aid in the rule-in and rule-out of myocardial infarction.
“We are exceptionally pleased and honoured to have these globally recognized clinical experts on our Clinical Advisory Board. Their interest in our proprietary, digital POC system is encouraging and we hope to get useful insights from them as we move towards clinical validation and commercialization of the Psyros™ POC system” said Ulf Bladin, CEO of Prolight.
The Clinical Advisory Board comprises the following internationally recognised experts in the fields of cardiology, emergency medicine and clinical pathology.
MD Richard Body, Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Manchester and Honorary Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Group Director of Research & Innovation at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, sits on the IFCC point-of-care committee and has a high interest in developing the best strategy of managing patients with myocardial infarction including the use of point-of-care biomarkers such as high-sensitive troponin.
MD Paul Collinson, Professor of Cardiovascular Biomarkers at St. George’s Medical School, and previously consultant chemical pathologist at St. George’s University Hospital of London, where he was responsible for the Point of Care team. He has published over 300 papers and review articles and is an active member of Committee on Clinical Applications of Cardiac Bio-Markers of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry (IFCC) where he was lead author on the recent IFCC recommendations on Cardiac Markers by Point of Care testing.
MD Thomas Kaier is an interventional cardiologist at St Thomas’ Hospital with a research background investigating the role of novel biomarkers in ischaemic heart disease on a protein basis. He holds a Master of Business Administration and completed a PhD in Cardiovascular Medical Research at King’s College London.
MD Michael Marber, Professor of Cardiology at King’s College London, has a clinical interest in acute cardiac care and translational research focusing on myocardial ischaemia with over 400 publications on the subject.
MD Nicholas Mills, Professor of Cardiology at the University of Edinburgh, is a Consultant Cardiologist at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and British Heart Foundation Chair of Cardiology. His research aims to understand the mechanisms of myocardial injury in patients with heart disease, and to identify novel approaches to improve risk stratification and clinical outcomes in these patients. He is also an active member of Committee on Clinical Applications of Cardiac Bio-Markers of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry (IFCC).
MD Raphael Twerenbold, Professor of Clinical Cardiology and interventional cardiologist at the University Medical Centre Hamburg Eppendorf, Hamburg, Germany, with a focus on cardiovascular biomarkers and genetics. He is actively exploring the clinical utility of circulating biomarkers in acute and chronic cardiovascular care and author of several influential articles on the clinical use of high-sensitive cardiac troponin in patients with suspected myocardial infarction.
